Seaside In The City

The Man on the Horse will be surrounded by a free seaside event, from 10 am to 4 pm and includes free ice cream and candy floss for the first lucky 400 visitors. Queen Square will be turned into the seaside with a huge city centre beach this year surrounded by deck chairs for all the family to enjoy. A giant deck chair provides a perfect photo opportunity.

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside (in the city).

Visitors can enjoy an array of Free fun family activities including testing their strength on the High Striker. A games area includes Giant Kerplunk, Jenga, Snakes and Ladders and Twister and are sure to keep everyone entertained throughout the day. For lovers of a traditional seaside fun fair, visitors can enjoy Hook a Duck and a Coconut Shy and try their luck at both of these well loved side shows.

Children and big kids, will be entertained by a free Punch and Judy Show running throughout the day on Queen Square. Children can also enjoy free face painting. Come along and enjoy the Seaside in the City. We at
the Enjoy Team are organising this event as part of their Enjoy Wolverhampton events programme. This
free family event will transform Queen Square into a seaside for the day and inject a lot of fun for our visitors.

By Car

Visiting the city by car is easy from whatever direction…..

Signposted from M54 junctions 1, 2 and 3 and from the M6 junction 10.

  • J1 of the M54 via the A460
  • J2 of the M54 via the A449 (Stafford Road)
  • J3 of the M54 via the A41
  • Via the A449 Penn Road
  • Via the A4123 Birmingham New Road
  • Via the A454 Bridgnorth Road

All roads lead to the city centre ring road where car parks are clearly signposted.

Parking

Parking is available across the city centre and with the city being so walkable you are never far from anywhere in Wolverhampton. Civic Centre car park is open until 11pm for the event – access is via Wulfruna Street ONLY WV1 1RQ

NCP Wulfrun Centre is open till 11pm for the event (WV13BA (Garrick Street)

Pedestrian access to the Wulfrun Centre car park is next to Argos on Cleveland Street.

Overnight Parking

Overnight Parking is available at all NCP Wolverhampton sites at

  • NCP Pipers Row (WV1 3LA)
  • NCP Summer Row (Temple Street, WV2 4AU)
  • NCP Fryer Street (WV1 1HT)
  • NCP Church Street (WV2 4LW)

Or alternatively at the Council’s Faulkland Street car park, Faulkland Crescent, Wolverhampton, WV1 1JN

Civic Centre car park   – open till 11pm on Sat 3rd June -Overnight parking by prior arrangement ONLY

By Bus

The event is a short walk from Wolverhampton Bus Station via Queen Street and Dudley Street or Lichfield Street to the event in Queen Square. A number of bus services are diverted due to road closures in place for the event. All buses will still be running although stops at Lichfield Street and Darlington Street will be redirected to Wolverhampton Bus Station.

By Tram

The Metro terminates at Priestfield, however those that are travelling into Wolverhampton city centre are advised to get off at the Crescent to catch the 79 and 79E bus service into the city centre. All metro tickets are accepted on those services.

By Train

A 4 minute walk from Wolverhampton Train station via Lichfield Street or Queen Street and Dudley Street.

Cycling

Cyclists will be able to access Darlington St to pass through the city centre and to access parking in and around the Civic. Cycle parking will be restricted in the event space and alternative cycle parking locations are shown on the Wolverhampton Cycle Map

Getting Home

Taxis

Taxis (Black Cabs) are located at Taxi Ranks on Victoria Street (WV 1 3NP) (Close to House of Fraser) and Market Street (WV1 3AG) by Number One Pizza)

Late Night Safe Haven (WV1 3NP)

For a friendly and welcoming place to book a taxi, wait for a friend, get a soft drink or a pair of flip flops to make sure you have a great night out visit the Late Night Safe Have on the corner of Victoria Street (opposite House of Fraser) open from 11pm till 4am for after the Enjoy Wolverhampton Live event and on payday weekends throughout the year.
