West Midland Metro Service Suspension
Following the identification of new bodywork cracks on our older trams, West Midlands Metro has taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend services so detailed inspections could be undertaken by the manufacturer.
These precautionary inspections will greatly reduce the number of trams available for operation which is why we have had to take the decision to suspend the service.
We understand the frustration many people will feel at this latest interruption and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.
Ticket acceptance has been agreed with both bus and rail operators, meaning that Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on the following alternative transport options:
National Express bus service 74 between Birmingham and West Bromwich
National Express bus service 79 between West Bromwich and Wolverhampton
National Express bus services 9, 12/12A, 13/13A ,23, 24, 82, 87, 126, X8, and X10 between Colmore Row and Library
West Midlands Railway and Avanti West Coast train services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham
I would like to assure you that we are working to restore services as soon as possible. Inspecting all trams does take some time and we are aiming for this to be completed this week.
I will keep you updated and will let you know when services can resume. The latest information will be updated regularly on our website and social media. If you would like any further information, please do email customerrelations@tfwm.org.uk.
