Job Description - City Ambassador & Part time CCTV Public Space Surveillance Operator (To Cover Days off and Holidays)
Pay: £25,604.80 (£12.31 per hour) based on 40 hours per week.
Reporting to: BID Deputy Manager & Business Crime Reduction Manager
Work Pattern: Flexible shift work pattern - 5 days out of 7, weekend and Bank holiday working will be required. Some evening work will be required to support city events.
Job Purpose: This is a joint role, the majority of which will be undertaken in the role of City Ambassador, to patrol the City Centre Business Improvement District (BID) area daily. Providing a helpful, welcoming, engaging and informative point of contact for visitors and businesses. In addition, the employee will provide holiday and shift coverage in the CCTV Operator role. The role of the CCTV operative is to ensure surveillance and monitoring for a safe and welcoming city centre, to communicate effectively via the radio link to colleagues and radio link users. Reporting issues to appropriate partners, helping to reduce incidents of antisocial behaviour and support a reduction in business crime/ shop theft.
City Ambassadors provide a positive, friendly, welcoming and visible presence in the city. The aim of their presence is to improve the visitor experience in the city. The team liaise with BID Levy paying businesses to support those businesses and ensure any operational issues are raised / resolved quickly. The City Ambassadors will visit BID business members daily and ensure that each levy payer is aware of the services provided by the BID, whilst also providing a high-quality visitor support service. It is expected that the combination of knowledge gathered through CCTV surveillance together with that gathered through city centre patrols and engagement will work hand in hand.
The team provides visitors with information on the facilities, shops, services, key events and attractions of the city. They maintain a relevant and up to date knowledge of operational aspects of the city centre. They have a direct link to CCTV operators and radio link users. They will patrol all areas of the city centre BID area. City Ambassadors will be able to offer basic First Aid (training provided) and assist with lost children and help vulnerable people. The team are friendly, courteous and helpful, ensuring that an exceptionally high standard of customer service is always delivered. The City Ambassadors play a pivotal role in supporting BID city centre events to the highest of standards.
Key Responsibilities
To work as part of a team of City Ambassadors to deliver the aims of Wolverhampton BID by providing a warm welcome for all visitors.
City Ambassadors provide visitor assurance and a visible presence within the BID area.
To provide a presentable, highly visible, approachable and friendly walking visitor information and strong business liaison service.
Maintain an excellent understanding of city centre operations, city events, attractions and BID activities.
To improve communication, build relationships and strong engagement between the BID team, its members and partners.
To understand business needs, their suggestions or concerns across a range of issues that can arise daily.
To patrol on foot following an agreed patrol system.
To work with Police, PCSO’s, CCTV operators and other partners to assist in the reduction of stock loss and antisocial behaviour.
To support and promote participation in BID initiatives such as events and city promotions.
To effectively monitor the Wolverhampton City Centre BID area via the CCTV system.
To communicate effectively over the Radio Link any matters to colleagues and radio link business members.
Any other duties of a similar nature may be requested by management.
PC and IT literate is an advantage
Benefits
21 days exclusive of bank holidays (rising to a maximum of 23 days). Company contributed to pension after probationary period.
Probation period:
3 Months. Full training to be provided.
